In this edition of DrupalCamp Spain, we are going to celebrate a new type of activity where we want to accommodate a diversity of topics that arise from the attendees of the event. We want to give you the reins of what will happen during 3 hours at the Camp. Therefore….
We are going to celebrate an Open Space within the Camp!
Next, we explain what we are exactly planning and what you can expect from it.
What is Open Space?
An Open Space is a dynamic in which the agenda and topics are created on the fly based on the proposals and votes of the people participating in it. Basically, an Open Space focuses on the people participating in it.
After a brief period where the suggested topics by those present are presented, these are voted on and an agenda is created. After that, the magic begins, and conversations around the most voted topics start in different spaces.
In the following video, you have a summary of what this type of activity is about and the most important rules.
How will the concept of Open Space be implemented in the camp?
In this edition of DrupalCamp Spain, we have the workshop room available for 3 hours to carry out this activity. Therefore, we have structured the times as follows:
Proposals for topics before the camp
You can already send your suggestions for the Open Space. To do this, you just need to use the following form, and we will add your proposal to our online board.
You can also see what other proposals have been submitted so far.
Proposals for topics at the camp
At the beginning of DrupalCamp, you will have a bulletin board in the registration area to add any topic that arises during the event. Similarly, we will keep the online board synchronized with the physical bulletin board so that anyone can access the presented proposals at any time, from anywhere.
Open Space at the camp
The moment has arrived, let's get started! After a brief introduction and the presentation of the topics, we will create the agenda and kick off. We will select the 5 most voted topics. Each topic will be discussed for 30 minutes.
FAQs
And if my topic doesn't have enough votes, can I still organize it?
We have a limited time of 3 hours in total to hold the activity, so we must prioritize those topics that attract the most attention from participants and use the room we have for that. However, we have an open space where any BOFs can take place, whether the topic has been proposed in the Open Space or not. In this space, you will have materials such as post-its, posters, etc., so you can make it clear that a BOF is taking place and what it is about.
What if we need more time after the 30 minutes?
Don't worry, you always have the open BOF area available to continue the conversation. You can continue without any problems in this area.
Who should I contact if I have any questions?
José Luis Bellido is your contact in case of doubts or requests. You can contact him through the workspace of Drupal on Slack, the Telegram group for the camp (DrupalCampEs), or the Twitter account for DrupalCamp @drupalcampspain.
